About

Dr. Murry is a pathologist with clinical expertise in diseases of the heart and vascular system. His interests include atherosclerosis, ischemic heart disease, myocardial infarction, heart failure, cardiomyopathy and valvular disease. Dr. Murry is the director for the UW Center for Cardiovascular Biology and is the interim director for the UW Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine. His research interests include cardiovascular stem cell biology, heart failure, heart regeneration, gene therapy and cardiovascular genetics. He also serves as director of the UW's Heart Regeneration Program, with the goal of achieving stem cell-based heart regeneration in patients. 

Dr. Murry received his bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of North Dakota. He then did his M.D. and Ph.D. training at Duke University. He came to the UW for residency training in anatomic pathology, followed by clinical and research fellowships in cardiovascular pathology. In addition to these activities, Dr. Murry is an award-winning teacher who teaches extensively in the medical school and graduate school. He also co-directs a T32 training grant in cardiovascular biology that supports 12 trainees.

Dr. Murry's personal interests include hiking, camping, bicycling, theater, reading, live music, and the Northwest microbrewery scene.
